Station within Harrow will get easy access

December 21, 2016

Harrow-on-the-Hill underground station will soon receive step-free access.

It has been announced that considerable investment will be made available to improve Harrow-on-the-Hill underground station. A portion of £200 million has been allocated to make access to the station step-free. Residents in the area could be made aware of local transport improvements via booklet printing in Ruislip Manor.

Navin Shah, who represents Harrow and Brent in the London Assembly, stated:

“Local residents and community groups such as Harrow Association of Disabled People, Harrow Mencap and Age UK-Harrow have been campaigning to improve accessibility at this station for at least 10 years.”

Shah added that the investment should be positive for people with disabilities. He also said that individuals with prams could find it easier to use the station in the future.

Furthermore, Shah expressed his gratitude to everyone that participated in the drive to obtain step-free access. In particular, he thanked local politicians for their role in achieving progress that could boost regeneration in the neighbourhood.

Sadiq Khan, the current Mayor of London, has lent his support to promoting accessibility to the network. He has suggested that the elderly and those with disabilities should have the chance to use the stations in the same way as other Londoners. His commitment to making improvements to the transport infrastructure of the city has been welcomed by Shah.
